Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Falah is developed by an independent developer. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the Falah mobile app ("Falah", "the app").

2. Data that stays on your device

The following is stored locally on your device only, using standard on-device storage, and is never transmitted to us or any third party by the app itself:

• Prayer time settings (calculation method, madhab, manual time adjustments)
• Your saved location (city or GPS coordinates), used only to calculate prayer times and Qibla direction
• Prayer tracking history and streaks
• Tasbih (dhikr) counts
• Qur'an reading bookmarks and Khatm plan progress
• Ḥifẓ (memorization) recordings, if you choose to record them — these stay on your device and are never uploaded
• App preferences (language, time format, notification settings, theme)

Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all of this data, since it exists only on your device.

3. Optional features that use a server

A small number of features are opt-in and briefly contact a server only while you're actively using that specific feature:

• Family Prayer Sharing — if you choose to create or join a family circle, a randomly generated circle code and a simple "prayed today" status per prayer are stored on our database (Supabase) so people you share the code with can see it. No name, email, or account is required or collected for this feature. Anyone with the circle code can access that circle's data, similar to an "anyone with this link" shared document — only share the code with people you trust.
• Mosque suggestions — if you submit a mosque that isn't already listed, the mosque name and coordinates you provide are stored on our database so other users searching that area can see it.
• Qur'an audio recitation — when you play a verse's audio, the app streams it from Al Quran Cloud's public CDN (islamic.network) and caches it on your device for offline replay. No personal data is sent with this request beyond what's needed to fetch the audio file.
• Mosque finder — searching for nearby mosques queries the public OpenStreetMap Overpass API using your coordinates, to return mosques near you. This request is not linked to any personal identifier.

4. Advertising

Falah shows ads through Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) to remain free to use. The AdMob SDK — separate from the rest of the app — may collect and use:

• Your advertising identifier and general device information, to serve and measure ads
• Approximate location (if available), which some ad networks use for regional targeting

The advertising SDK does not have access to your prayer data, tracking history, Qur'an progress, location saved for prayer-time calculation, or anything else Falah stores locally — that data is never shared with the advertising SDK or any ad network.

For users in the European Economic Area, the UK, and Switzerland, ad personalization is subject to applicable consent requirements. You can review and manage ad personalization for your device at any time in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads, or via Google's own controls at adssettings.google.com. Google's use of advertising data is described in the Google Advertising Policy.

5. Permissions the app requests, and why

• Location — to calculate accurate prayer times and Qibla direction for where you are. Used on-device only.
• Notifications — to deliver adhan and prayer reminders.
• Exact alarms — so adhan notifications and audio play at the precise prayer time, even if the app is closed.
• Microphone — only used if you choose to record your own Qur'an recitation for private Ḥifẓ review. Recordings stay on your device.
• Do Not Disturb access (optional, Android) — only if you enable "Prayer Focus," to automatically silence and restore your phone's sound around prayer times.

6. Children's privacy

Falah is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information through one of the optional server-connected features above, contact us and we will delete it.

7. Data deletion

Since almost all of your data lives only on your device, uninstalling Falah removes it. If you used Family Prayer Sharing or submitted a mosque suggestion and would like that specific data removed from our database, contact us at the email below with the relevant circle code or mosque name and we will delete it.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change accordingly. Continued use of Falah after an update means you accept the revised policy.
